Gooselog
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 07 July 2026
Welcome to Gooselog. We understand that your flight data, license information, and personal notes are highly private and important. In this privacy policy, we clearly and transparently explain which data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
What data do we collect?
To operate Gooselog as a cloud-synced digital logbook assistant, we collect the following data:
- Account data: Your email address and authentication credentials managed through our authentication provider.
- Personal profile data: Information you voluntarily provide, such as your name, address, pilot license number, and medical validity dates, if provided by you. This data is used to generate PDF logbook exports in formats intended to assist pilots in maintaining their flight records.
- Flight data: All information you enter about your flights, including ICAO codes, flight times, aircraft registrations, crew names, signed signatures, and (optional) personal notes.
- Subscription data: Subscription status (such as Student, Essentials, or Pro). Please note: we do not store payment details (such as credit card information). Payments are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store).
Analytics & Crash Reports (Only with your consent)
By default, Gooselog does not collect tracking or crash data. Only if you explicitly opt in during onboarding or via the settings do we collect anonymous diagnostic data. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.
Why do we process this data?
We only use your data for the following purposes:
- Service delivery: Storing, calculating, and securely syncing your flights across your devices.
- Export: Generating PDF documents and CSV backups upon your request.
- Customer support: Helping you with questions regarding your account or subscription.
- Improvement (opt-in): Monitoring app stability through anonymized crash reports.
Where is your data stored? (Third parties)
We never sell your data to third parties. To operate the app, we use securely hosted, industry-leading infrastructure providers (processors). These providers process data only on our instructions and are bound by appropriate data protection agreements. Some of our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where required, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
- Google Firebase (Firestore & Auth): Your logbook and profile are stored encrypted (in transit and at rest) in Google Firebase cloud databases.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to securely communicate with the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to verify your access to premium features. They receive an anonymous user ID but never access your logbook content.
- Local storage (SQLite): For offline use in the cockpit, a secure local copy of your logbook is stored on your device.
Retention and deletion
Your data remains securely stored in the cloud as long as your account is active. Want to stop using Gooselog?
- Individual flights can be deleted at any time by you. Deleted flight records are removed from our active database systems, subject to any temporary retention that may exist in secure backups or where retention is required by law.
- If you want your entire account and all associated logbook data permanently deleted, You can request deletion through the app settings or by contacting us at [email protected]. We will fully erase your data within 30 days.
